Confidentiality
All information discussed in therapy sessions will be kept confidential, unless you give me written permission to share such information, with some exceptions as outlined below.
- I may be required by law to report suspected abuse or neglect, for example POCSO and POSH acts, require me to report any abuse known to me.
- I may consult with other professionals about your case to help provide you with appropriate care. If I do such consultations, I will make every effort to avoid revealing information that could identify you to maintain your privacy.
If you are concerned about confidentiality in any situation, please bring it to my attention.
Your Rights
- You have the right to participate actively in your treatment and make informed decisions about your care.
- You have the right to ask questions and request clarification at any time.
- You have the right to terminate therapy at any time.
- You have the right to seek a second opinion.
- You have the right to ask for a referral.
- You have the right to access your treatment records, with some exceptions.
Please let me know if you would like to discuss.
My Responsibilities
- I am committed to providing you with competent and ethical psychological care, under proper clinical supervision.
- I will respect your privacy and confidentiality.
- I will discuss the limitations of my expertise and refer you to another provider if necessary.
Social Media Policy
My primary concern is your privacy. This section outlines my policies related to use of Social Media. Please read it to understand how I conduct myself on the Internet as a mental health professional and how you can expect me to respond to various interactions that may occur between us on the Internet.
Friending
- I do not accept friend or contact requests from current or former clients on any social networking site (Facebook, LinkedIn, etc). I believe that adding clients as friends or contacts on these sites can compromise your confidentiality and our respective privacy. It may also blur the boundaries of our therapeutic relationship.
Following
- I have a public Instagram account that is open to anyone to follow. Here I may share my thoughts, opinion pieces, and more. I have no expectation that you as a client will want to follow my public Instagram account, or the Instagram page dedicated for this therapy practice.
- If you happen to find either of my accounts, see my content, and happen to bring it to a session, we may briefly discuss it and its potential impact on our working relationship.
Privacy
- There may be more private ways to follow me on Instagram, Reddit, or any other social media platform, while you may follow me on my public pages, my private pages are restricted. If you happen to follow me on any of my social media accounts, note that I will not follow you back.
- I do not follow current or former clients on any platforms. My reasoning is that I believe casual viewing of clients’ online content outside of the therapy hour can create confusion in regard to whether it’s being done as a part of your treatment or to satisfy my personal curiosity. In addition, viewing your online activities without your consent and without our explicit arrangement towards a specific purpose could potentially have a certain influence on our working relationship.
- If there are things from your online life that you wish to share with me, please bring them into our sessions where we can view and explore them together, during the therapy hour.
Please do not use SMS (mobile phone text messaging) or messaging on Social Networking sites such as Instagram, Facebook, or LinkedIn to contact me. These sites are not secure and I may not read these messages in a timely fashion.
Do not use Wall postings, @replies, or other means of engaging with me in public online if we have an already established client/therapist relationship. Engaging with me this way could compromise your confidentiality.
If you want to share a post, blog, video link, or something similar, you may do so on my professional use contact number on WhatsApp or via Email therapynahr@gmail.com.
Session Structures
Session structure and cancellation policies are essential parts of therapy. With these structures come professional boundaries that help facilitate the therapeutic work and develop healthy independence for clients. Following this structure becomes a part of a sense of security and certainty for you.
1) Sessions will be held online via video call and will be for a maximum duration of 50 minutes each. (Please be mindful of the same).
2) A weekly session is usually recommended, however, we can discuss and make adjustments as required.
3) Try to schedule the appointments 2 to 3 days in advance for ease, availability, and convenience of both parties.
*Please Note*
- Sessions begin and end at the scheduled time. If a client arrives late, the session will still end at the originally scheduled time, and the full fee will apply.
- A short grace period of 10 minutes is provided. After this period, the session may be considered a no-show, at the therapist’s discretion, and may be subject to the cancellation policy (refer below).
Frequent lateness may be discussed in session, as it can impact the therapeutic process. If it continues, it may lead to reconsideration of scheduling arrangements or referral to another provider.
- Open communication is highly encouraged in all cases. If you are running late, please inform the therapist at the earliest; you can expect the same from the therapist.
Cancellations
- Cancellations made by the client at least 24 hours before the scheduled session are eligible for rescheduling or a full refund.
- Cancellations made by the client, 12–24 hours before the session can be rescheduled.
- If a session is cancelled by the client without notice or the client is unable to attend, the full session fee will be charged.
- In case of any cancellation from the therapist's side, you will be offered a full refund or the option to reschedule the session.
